Home When John Carrel started business importing and distributing in 1946, the product range was wide and varied. In the 50's the company started to specialize in electrical engineering equipment. Today Carrel & Carrel Ltd is one of New Zealand's major suppliers of electrical measuring equipment to industry. Carrel & Carrel Ltd is a family business with Tim Carrel now at the helm. The company maintains "old fashioned" values such as service; dependability and reliability coupled with flair, ingenuity and innovation. We believe our advantage is our innovation and manufacturing flexibility. Our range of devices provides customers with cost effective solutions from the not so difficult to the most complex problems. Carrel & Carrel became involved in the importation of analogue panel meters and later, commenced local manufacture. The Company then became a major supplier of analogue panel instruments in New Zealand. Today the company continues to manufacture moving iron and moving coil panel meters. In addition it manufactures and imports a complementary range of digital panel meters, current transformers, ammeter shunts, electric impulse counters, encoders, hour run meters, pilot lights, phase sequence indicators, tachometers, digital thermometers and test instruments. Production of electrical transducers started during the '80s to complement SCADA and other similar systems as the necessary "front ends" for such systems. Carrel & Carrel now manufactures a wide range of transducers designed and built to international standards. Carrel & Carrel equipment is used extensively by New Zealand industry, power supply organisations and the power generation sector. Electrical Transducers feature as a large proportion of export sales to Australia and Asia. Carrel & Carrel has also had many years experience in the supply of electronic monitoring, radio telemetry and control equipment. Another specialist area in which a large degree of in-house development and manufacture has taken place is that of electrically operated audible and visual warning signals. The range extends from simple electric buzzers, bells, sounders and flashing lights to high power long range electronic and motor driven sirens and air horns. These devices cater for industrial hazard alarms and civil emergency warning systems. A further area of long-time specialisation is in the design, development and manufacture of Technical enquiries are always welcome and assistance with product application is available.
